OUR HOST

Gillian will be known to many Canadians as the fresh-faced science enthusiast from @discovery.ca, the award winning science newsmagazine she hosted for several years on Discovery Channel. More recently, she hosted Discoveries This Week for Discovery Science Channel in the U.S. She has also worked extensively as a television host for CBC and CTV, and narrated several nature programs and documentaries.

Since its inception in 2002, Gillian has been host of the Canadian Environment Awards, an initiative of Canadian Geographic magazine and the Government of Canada, recognizing grassroots initiatives across the country to improve the state of the environment.

As a freelance writer, she has been a regular contributor to the Green Living magazine where she works as the Environmental Editor.

Gillian is the author of Green Tips, a consumer guide to making more environmentally friendly lifestyle choices "how to save money while you save the earth". Green Tips is published by Key Publishers - click here for more info.

Gillian has served as a director of World Wildlife Fund Canada since 2002. She also sits on the advisory panel for All-Canadian Management Green Resource Fund.

Prior to 2002, she spent four years at CBC Television in Montreal hosting and writing for Citybeat, a national half-hour program showcasing Quebec arts and culture to the rest of the country on the CBC national network. During that time she also appeared weekly as arts columnist for CBC Newsworld's Morning News.

Her work at the CBC earned her a gold medal at the New York International TV, Film and Video Festival. She was also voted "Best Local Personality" in the Montreal MIRROR 1994 reader's poll; Citybeat was named "Best Montreal TV show" in the same survey.
